At Dorset Crayfish we offer a professional and free crayfish trapping service within the Dorset and Hampshire area. We do offer our crayfish trapping services outside of Dorset and Hampshire but it is likely that we will charge a small fee for this, but this will depend on your location, the size of your waters and the severity of the crayfish population.
Some of the people most likely to be affected by populations of Signal crayfish infestations include fishermen, who complain that the crayfish steal their baits when fishing and also drastically decrease numbers of other fish in the water. Signal crayfish also do much damage to river beds and to the general river and lake eco-system, and in this case crayfish trapping is the most efficient and effective way of removing the crayfish humanely.
If you would like to remove crayfish from your waters then we can help out free of charge if you are within a certain distance. We can come and lay many of our own crayfish traps in your waters and then humanely despatch any non-native species of crayfish, continuing the process until the population is gone. It is near impossible to completely rid a water of Signal crayfish, but by continuing to lay traps on an on-going basis you can severely dent the numbers of the creatures and eventually wipe them out.
Our crayfish traps are completely licensed and safe to use, they have been fitted with the legally required otter protection guards, so you can rest assured that only the non-native species of crayfish will be removed from your waters by using our services.
