Crayfish Removal

At Dorset Crayfish we specialise in removing the invasive, non-native species of Crayfish known as the Signal Crayfish. The Signal Crayfish arrived here from America in the 1970's and has spread to many waters in the UK, from rivers to lakes and even garden ponds.

The Signal Crayfish will out-compete the native White-Clawed Crayfish that also lives in rivers and in recent years the number of native Crayfish has been severely reduced due to the increase in numbers of the Signal.

The best way to prevent the spread of the non-native Crayfish is by undergoing an extensive trapping program on a regular basis for a set period of time. The Signal Crayfish need to be humanely killed to prevent the further distribution and increased destruction on our native wildlife and habitat.

At Dorset Crayfish we offer a very professional and low-cost Signal Crayfish removal program, which involves the use of many safe and Crayfish-specific traps that we lay on a regular basis in specific sections of water to prevent the spread of this creature.

Although the problems caused by the Crayfish will not disappear instantly, by hiring the services of Dorset Crayfish you can rest assured that after a set period of regularly laying and checking our traps the numbers of them left in the water should be completely erradicated or at least minimised to a far more manageable number.
